The 2016 Troy Distinguished Citizen, Troy Business Community Appreciation Award and Volunteers of the Year will be honored at the Leadership Troy 48th Annual Recognition Banquet November 2 at the St. Nicholas Greek Cultural Center at 760 West Wattles Road (between Livernois and Crooks). This annual event honors the significant contributions of individuals and businesses who give back to the Troy community. Leadership Troy is proud to announce the 2016 Troy Distinguished Citizen. The honoree is Mike Kerr.
“The award is given each year to either an individual or couple who reside in Troy. A selection committee comprised of a cross section of members involved in Troy made the selection.” Said Jim Cyrulewski, President of Leadership Troy. “The criteria they used to make the selection was that the nominee contributed to the Troy community above and beyond that which required in their employment; demonstrated character, commitment and/or leadership qualities; received no monetary or in-kind compensation for volunteer activities; actively participated in community or civic organizations, school and/ or faith community and exemplified professional accomplishments and contribution to the economic well being and quality of life in Troy. Mike Kerr certainly meets all the criteria.”*

Leadership Troy is proud to announce its 2016 Troy Business Community Appreciation Award Winner. The honored business is the Kohl’s - Oakland Square.
“The award is given each year to a business that over a period of time has given a wide range of support to local schools, community groups, and/or non-profit organizations and has improved the quality of life in Troy through civic and philanthropic activities,” said Mary Kerwin, Vice-President of Leadership Troy. “The criteria used to make the selection includes provision of community service that substantially benefited the community, served as a positive ambassador of the Troy community locally, nationally, and/or internationally, received recognition for outstanding service contributions such as awards, honors and citations, demonstrated business growth, expansion, or development, involved in Troy community, practices social responsibility and encourages employee participation in community volunteer activities and noted for contributions to the wellbeing and quality of life in Troy. The Kohl’s certainly meets the criteria.”*

2016 Community Organizations Volunteer of the Year HonoreesLeadership Troy is proud to announce the 2016 Community Organizations Volunteer of the Year Honorees. "Each year the various community organizations that help make Troy the great place to live, are asked by Leadership Troy to select a member as their respective outstanding volunteer of the year. This year, 13 organizations have chosen a member to honor," said Jim Cyrulewski, President of Leadership Troy. "Honorees are recognized for the many volunteer hours they give to their organization. This can be for helping with fundraising events, organizing projects that provide assistance, holding fun events for youth and/or seniors, planning networking and social activities, communicating news about the organization via social media or running the organization to name just a few of the areas volunteers give their time.*
